The MCRC - Molecular & Cellular Research Core services provide access to state-of-the-art equipment, technologies, and resources. Provides specialized support in all aspects of research, including protocol/assay development and testing of patient samples for various assays.
The Clinical Laboratory services include performing immunodiagnostic and chemical assays on research samples submitted to the laboratory by investigators, following strict quality control and reporting results promptly.
The clinical research arm of the unit provides facilities, resources, and staff to conduct clinical and translational research. Conducts adult and pediatric research in outpatient and inpatient settings. Services include: protocol implementation support, study recruitment, study visit coordination, nurse coordination, pharmacokinetic sampling, and medication administration.
Regulatory Support is offered for pharmaceutical studies utilizing full coordination services.
The community research arm of this unit provides support for research with New Mexico communities. Services include: design consultations, community outreach, qualitative data collection (interviews and focus groups), qualitative analysis and dissemination. We provide study coordination, recruitment, quantitative data collection, and data management.
The Bionutrition services include supporting studies through improved study design, methods, analysis, and interpretation of data related to bionutrition. The Radiology component uses DEXA to provide both body composition and bone density information for research purposes.
Offers free workshops on various topics related to the basics of qualitative research methodologies, including the basics of coding, NVivo, interviewing, focus group facilitation, writing qualitative summaries, and dissemination.
Supports collaboration on health-related studies and projects that integrate investigator interests with community needs and community participation. Offers free assistance to investigators with study promotion and dissemination.
Provides and hosts free training resources for clinical and translational research/science investigators, staff, students, and community members. Training topics include: Clinical Study Operations, Communication and Teamwork, Data Management and Informatics, Grants and Publications, Leadership and Professionalism, and Study and Site Management.
Provides access to high-quality, secure data resources, interoperable and user-friendly infrastructure for data-driven research, modern analytic tools, education and training, and innovative IT solutions needed for discovery, development, demonstration, and dissemination for the full spectrum of translational science. Services include: case finding and discovery, project consultation, data extraction from EMR and other databases, basic data cleaning, assisting creation of data processing specifications, secure data delivery and storage, honest broker services, and computer programming as requested by the investigator. The local research instance of REDCap is supported by the Health Informatics team.
Provides access to information and individual guidance regarding the steps involved in translating discoveries to patients and the public. This includes: (1) the need for, and mechanisms of, submitting invention disclosures and patents through the technology-transfer and economic-development arms of the parent institutions; (2) licensing for and the creation of startup companies; (3) facilitating connections between investigators and the business community; and (4) addressing FDA requirements for drugs, biological products, and medical devices.
